KLADDKAKA Recipe for juicy chocolate cake from Sweden

Quick to make and incredibly delicious, Kladdkaka is a Swedish chocolate cake that tastes so moist we can't get enough of it! We'll tell you the recipe.
"Kladdkaka" may sound funny to our ears at first and not necessarily like something edible, but behind it is a heavenly chocolate cake from Sweden. The name is made up of the words "kaka" (Swedish for "cake") and "Aladdin", which means "sticky". And Kladdkaka is indeed a sticky cake because the desert is characterized by its moist consistency. It's no wonder that the popular chocolate cake is often served at the Swedish coffee party, the "Fika". With our recipe you can bake it easily:

Ingredients for 12 pieces
  • 150 g butter
  • 250 g sugar
  • 1 p. vanilla sugar
  • 3 eggs (size M)
  • 4 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 150 g flour
  • grease for the mold
  • Powdered sugar
Preparation time: 30 minutes

Preparation of Kladdkaka
Preheat the oven to 175 °C top/bottom heat.
Put the butter in a saucepan and melt on the stove, then set aside.
Beat the sugar, vanilla sugar, and eggs in a bowl until fluffy. Combine the cocoa, salt, and flour and stir into the sugar and egg mixture. Finally, mix the melted butter into the batter.
Grease a springform pan (Ø 24 cm) or line with baking paper and spread the chocolate batter evenly in it. Bake the Kladdkaka in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes.
Let the chocolate cake cool and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Tip: Use the chopstick tester to check whether the cake is cooked - if you want the Kladdkaka to be nice and sticky and moist, you can take it out of the oven when some of the dough is still sticking to the chopstick.
