The basic recipe for Spritzgebäck
Who doesn't remember the delicious shortbread cookies that Grandma used to make? You can easily make these delicious cookies yourself! Spritzgebäck is usually made from a shortbread dough. The dough for shortbread cookies of any kind is easy to prepare. The ingredients are simply mixed together.

You will need the following ingredients for Grandma's shortbread cookies:
1 part sugar
2 parts butter
and 3 parts flour
Here's how easy it is to make spritz cookies:
First, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. You can also stir in egg yolk, which serves as an emulsifier.
Then the flour is mixed in.
If desired, the recipe can be flavored with lemon juice, vanilla sugar, almonds and spices.
Tip: Various other flavors such as coffee, cocoa or orange only make the basic recipe taste even better! This way, you can conjure up many different Christmas cookies.

Which attachment to use for piping cookies?
There are several attachments for the piping bag. For example, the typical star attachment is responsible for the wavy surface shape of the cookies. It can be used to form either fantasy shapes and squiggles or letters such as S, I and C.

The perforated nozzle, on the other hand, makes it easy to create dots on the baking sheet.

Tip: If you have a meat grinder at home, you can use it instead of the piping bag. There are suitable attachments for the mincer that can also be used for piped pastries.

Spritzgebäck: This is how it definitely succeeds!
If you make short pastry for shortbread, it is important to process the ingredients well cooled and quickly. Otherwise, heat or long kneading will make the dough tough as the gluten structure of the flour forms. However, the dough should become nicely crumbly, i.e. soft, so fast processing is essential. Therefore, it is recommended to mix the shortcrust pastry with the whisks of the hand mixer instead of with your hands. It is sufficient to knead it again briefly with your hands at the end.

Tip: To easily fill the dough into the piping bag, simply place it in a tall container - this way you have both hands free for filling. Simply fold over the edges and it stands stable.

Give away shortbread cookies
To give as a gift, let the cookies cool after baking. They can then be dipped in melted chocolate and garnished with chopped pistachios or almonds.

Sprinkles and cocoa nibs also look really good on the cookies. Finally, the cookies go into a pretty box and are guaranteed to surprise the recipient!
