COOKING BRUSSELS SPROUTS Tips for the preparation

Brussels sprouts, also known as Brussels sprouts, is one of the most popular vegetables in winter. We explain how to cook Brussels sprouts and how to prepare them in a delicious way.
Cooking Brussels sprouts: explained step by step
Simply prepared in five steps. That's how it works:

Remove the outer and wilted leaves with a knife and wash the Brussels sprouts.
Cut the stalk straight and carve it crosswise with the knife. This way the sprouts cook evenly.
Boil the cabbage for about 15 minutes at medium heat in salted water (a teaspoon of salt is enough) until it is done.
Pour off the cooking water and let the sprouts drain in a sieve.
For more taste, you can toss the sprouts in a pan with butter and season with salt, pepper or nutmeg. Another refined variation is to bread the Brussels sprouts with pieces of almonds or peanuts.
Tip: To prevent the brussels sprouts from tasting bitter, you can add some sugar to them or caramelize them after cooking. Another possibility is to cook the brussels sprouts in broth.

Experts also say that the sprouts must have been frost-bitten before harvesting because the cold makes them milder. Therefore, vegetables harvested in November or December often do not taste as bitter.

Preparing sprouts in the pan or oven
You do not necessarily have to cook brussels sprouts in a pot. If you prefer to fry the vegetables in a pan, you should cut them in half or quarters and fry them in hot oil or butter. When the lid is closed, the cabbage is cooked after about seven to ten minutes.

In the oven, Brussels sprouts are best cooked with a little oil, salt and honey. For this, the sprouts should be cooked at 180 degrees for twenty minutes.
